New tea garden at Unia Zath e, a place to slow down
Next season in 2027, Unia Zathe will gain a special new addition: our tea garden . A small, green meeting place where tranquility, the Frisian countryside, and the history of the region come together.
The tea garden is primarily intended for our own guests. A nice place to relax after a walk, bike ride, or day at the Wadden Sea with a cup of tea or coffee. At regular times, the garden will also be open to external visitors.
More than just a tea garden
We willen van de theetuin geen gewone horecaplek maken. Het wordt vooral een plek om even te vertragen en het landschap te beleven .
Naast de tuin komt een klein informatiepunt over het boerenleven in Friesland in de 18e en 19e eeuw . Hoe leefden mensen hier? Wat verbouwden ze? Welke rol speelden het land, de seizoenen en oude ambachten in het dagelijks bestaan?
Also, there is a small 'Ferwiiswinkeltsje' . Not a shop full of souvenirs, but rather a place that helps you further on your way. We refer to local farm shops, regional products , makers and other special addresses in the area**. This way, we invite our guests not to look for everything at Unia Zathe, but also to discover the region.
In addition, the flax museum in the village of Ie is also included in our references. After all, flax and its processing are part of the history of the Frisian countryside in general and of Ie in particular.
In the coming months, the tea garden will grow step by step.
We are not building the new tea garden all at once. Over the coming months, we will tackle different parts of the project. This way, you can follow the development of the garden with us.
The garden is being redesigned to match the old farm and expanded with more fruit trees and a beautiful sheltered spot for BBQing. A mobile canopy with a coffee and tea stand will be added, the information point will be developed, and we will set up the Ferwiiswinkeltsje. We will also create an additional toilet for our guests and visitors of the tea garden.
Slowly, a place emerges that suits Unia Zathe: small-scale, peaceful, and connected to the Frisian landscape and the Wadden Sea.
Located on the Frisian Forest Route and the Salt Path, we offer a place for cyclists and hikers. For our guests and, at certain times, for visitors from the surrounding area. To have a drink, sit under a fruit tree, learn more about the former rural life and get inspiration for the next destination in the region.
