You can find a lot of information about the environment at our place, but you can also ask for tips (where necessary custom work) and we will make it to your liking! In the Frisian village Ie (Ee), between Dokkum and the Wadden Sea, is located our farm (farmhouse) from 1815 called Unia Zathe. This is one of the most valuable preserved farms in Fryslan (come take a look inside!) Unia Zathe lies beautifully on top of the high terp in the center of the village against the Sint-Gangulfus church from the 13th century and has a rich history. The terp village Ie has a protected village landscape and counts 13 monuments. Ie is located just a stone's throw away from the beautiful Elfsteden city Dokkum, the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, the Lauwersmeer area and the ferry services to Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. Along Ie several beautiful walking, pilgrimage and cycling routes run.In the middle of the village stands the monumental church from the 13th century. In addition, you will find in Ie the only Flaaksmuseum (flax museum) of the Netherlands, a special place where the ancient craft of flax processing comes to life and you discover how deeply this cultivation is rooted in Frisian culture. Whether you come for culture, history or simply to enjoy the silence and character of North East Friesland: Ie proves that with few words you can make a lasting impression. The environment of Noard East Fryslân undoubtedly belongs to the most beautiful landscapes in the Netherlands. Here, extensive fields alternate with meandering waterways, old dikes and wide views. In the immediate vicinity lies the unique Lauwersmeer area, a paradise for nature lovers, walkers and birdwatchers. The nearby Wadden Sea coast also gives the (UNESCO) area an open, almost non-Dutch feeling of space and silence. From Ie you are surprisingly quickly at the sea. Within fifteen minutes you reach Holwert or Lauwersoog, where the ferries depart for a relaxing day on Ameland or Schiermonnikoog. So you combine effortlessly the quiet village life with nature, culture and the island feeling – a rare luxury that makes Noard East Fryslân so special.

Their cooking style is best described as a fresh Mediterranean cuisine, honest, homemade and seasonal. We also pay special attention to good wine and beer pairings. When the weather is chilly the restaurant is warmed up by our big fireplace. And on summer days you can savor an al-fresco dinner on our terrace. The fantastic views over the water can be enjoyed all days of the year. We offer a set menu and additionally a changing seasonal menu.

Trained in the classical French kitchen, but with his roots deeply embedded in the Northern Dutch countryside soil. The name of the neighbourhood Lastage, which is a archaic Dutch word with a French twist, seems to be fitted to the kitchen style of chef Rogier van Dam. The kitchen leans towards tradition and simplicity without fear of innovation. The same mentality that brought the neighbourhood prosperity and continues to instill beauty and character in this piece of Amsterdam. It is the oldest and most historic piece of Amsterdam and is on the border of the red light district; as effervescent as the glass of champagne on arrival and as adventurous as our wine list.

It is a stone flour mill of the tower mill type. On the ground floor there is an entrance for carts with grain. The hood can turn itself in the right direction by means of a self-tilting mechanism. The height from the mill to the top of the roof is seventeen meters. The blade cross has a diameter of approximately 22 meters. The diameter of the hull on the ground floor is six meters. The blades are propeller blades designed by Kurt Bilau. The mill has been owned by the same family since about 1870, but has changed names a few times. From Hermanns-Mühle to Rosenbaum-Mühle and finally Scholten-Mühle. This was because a few times there was only a daughter who could take over the mill and she then took her husband's name. From 1885 to 1914, the mill was assisted by a steam generator on windless days. Between 1914 and 1950 a gas turbine was used for this. The last full-time miller was Johannes Scholten. He died in 1963, after which the mill was decommissioned. The Scholten mill is privately owned and is used as a flour mill and bakery. The mill takes part in the annual open mill days on Pentecost Monday. Grain is occasionally ground and the flour is baked into bread in the baking house's ovens. The mill is open on Saturdays during the summer months and can also be visited by appointment.
